Dear members, dear visitors,

welcome to the renewed website of the Mediterranean Society of Coloproctology!

MSCP was born almost 20 years ago with the aim to gather the physicians of the Mediterranean area with special interests in coloproctology: after two decades this goal is still far away due to different reasons that include geographical difficulties, political troubles, different languages and level of development among the different countries. However, during all this period, the society has continuously represented a bridge of scientific cooperation and exchange of knowledges among the shores of the three continents that lie around the Mediterranean sea.

The society has held its X biennial congress in Genoa in the month of September 2015. It was a successful meeting with high-level scientific presentations and frank and participated discussions. The attendance was hosted in the wonderful location of the Park of Villa Quartara whereas the MSCP has renewed its Governing Council for the next biennium. For me it was really a great honour to be elected President: I wish to thank all the members of the society for this privilege and I am sure of their cooperation and friendship.

MSCP covers a widespread area with local situations that in the last years often made it difficult to travel and meet. We think that the purposes of our society are still topical in these days and electronic communication is a powerful medium to overstep this limits. Therefore the Council believes that our first task is to develop a more dynamic and interactive website where ideas, proposals, scientific contributions and discussions from every member are welcome. We will make every efforts to strengthen our network and to join to the society the countries that we have not yet reached.

The next biennial congress will take place in Thessaloniki (Greece) in 2018, 3rd-5th of May : I hope at that time a stronger society can gather a growing number of members around its projects.
